• The Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino celebrates its 50th birthday

    Tomorrow and saturday the Consorzio will celebrate

    Tomorrow we will celebrate the 50th birthday of the Consorzio del Brunello. In 1967 25 young producers, Leopoldo Franceschi, owner at that time of Il Poggione, was among them, gathered and founded the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino with the intent of protecting and promoting the appellation.

    The celebrations will take place tomorrow, April 28, and Saturday April 29. Tomorrow will start with a conference, hosted by Luciano Ferraro journalist from Corriere della Sera one of Italy’s leading newspapers, talking about this 50 years long history of the Consorzio. And during the conference the founding members will be commemorated and awarded. Then, tomorrow night, a gala dinner will be held in the beautiful medieval Fortress of Montalcino. The dinner will be prepared by the 3 Michelin Star Restaurant Da Vittorio, with its chef Enrico Cerea. The dinner will be devoted to collect fund for charity activities within the territory of Montalcino.

    Saturday the celebrations will end with another conference that will look at the future of Montalcino for the next 50 years, especially in terms of development in the international markets.
